Great skin from inside out. In other words, stress is probably our biggest enemy. Not only from a social and internal viewpoint, but also from an external skin viewpoint. It is a fact that stress causes us to frown. Which, in turn, causes our skin to crease and wrinkle. And when you think about it, stress is really just a waste of precious time. It gets us nowhere.

At Graceful Lilly, we’re sure that you’ve seen a friend who has been very embarrassed by an unfortunate event. Or maybe something someone has said. As a result, their face goes bright red. Like a beacon. This is just one example of how an internal feeling has an overwhelming effect on someone’s external skin.

There are a few simple, yet highly effective steps we can take to guard against stress.

The best steps are personal ones. I’m talking about the ones when someone, even those people we don’t know, have come from nowhere and said something flattering about us. Or, equally, when we have been so moved by someone else, that we have gone up to that person and talked sincerely, about their own compassion or speech they just made. You can think of any event. But it must be truthful. If you can’t think of something flattering someone else has said about you, then I’m sure there must be something you can say about someone else. Even if it’s only the clothes they wear.

Great skin from inside out. This means the more loving you are, the more loveable you will be.

There are plenty of positive affirmations around us every day. If you still need a reference, go to

“Love is like a boomerang. What goes around, comes around”

If you ever do find yourself pondering over the NEGATIVE things in your life, simply turn to positive thoughts. Your body will thank you in many ways. Not just your skin. Your heart will thank you, your nerves will thank you, your mind will thank you. But mostly, your neighbour will thank you.

The best thing about positive affirmations you make is that they are free. Before going to sleep of a night, simply think about how that encouragement made you feel and use that feeling to reflect on the skin you want to have. It never fails.

Great skin from inside out. About 5 weeks ago, I had a biopsy on my face. When i went back to my GP, she was AMAZED at how well my skin has healed. Let me assure you, it’s not because of my youthful age. At the time of writing this blog, I’m 53.

And these positive affirmations are available to anyone. It doesn’t matter where you were born. What colour your skin is. How fat or thin you are. Or which country your brain is from.

These thoughts are not only for Australian brains. We have great brains in Germany, China, the USA, Canada, Indonesia, Irland, Serbia, and Sweden. In fact, any corner of the globe.

Mindfulness is yet another great remedy. Try  Try living for the moment. Be aware of your breathing. The wind. The ocean. The sound of the shower. Birds singing.

“The biggest beauty thief and ager of all time is the stress our minds try to endure day in and day out,” says Amy Wechsler, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and psychiatrist and the author of The Mind-Beauty Connection. “Wound healing slows, oil glands go into overdrive, and inflammation takes off,” she explains.

Higher-than-normal stress levels can negatively impact the skin and worsen inflammatory skin conditions, including eczemapsoriasis, and acne, according to Apple Bodemer, MD, a dermatologist at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.
